Tell about some exciting things that your class has done this year, or things that you plan to do before the end of the year.
- My art club has written and illustrated a book for children about an artist we visited. They are starting their second book.
- 80 works of student art have been on display in the community.
- A teaching artist is coming to class to prepare students for a field trip to Cheekwood.
- Fourth graders are going to Cheekwood to study sculpture.

Do you have a higher degree? How many years do you have? ( Masters, +30, Dr…)
No, but I am certified to teach elementary 1-8, and did the coursework for the Kindergarten certification (all but student teaching). I started the masters program.
What made you decide to teach Art?
I started teaching art for home schoolers. Then Cheekwood called me to teach there. From there I was recommended to teach art for Julia Green’s PTA. I liked it so well, I finished the art education requirements.

Sage green

The Chronicles of Narnia
How do you prefer to communicate with you parents?
Any way that is convenient for them. My door is always open!
Tell about a special event or day your class participated in.
We got a grant to have three craft artists come to the school and demonstrate their crafts. There was a weaver, a chair maker, and a potter. Most students got to see all three.

The Mayor’s Art Show is coming up! April 20-May 4 at the Frist Center.
