Exciting things that your class has done this year, or things that you plan to do before the end of the year:
Writing has been our top priority. The students have practiced and mastered many different styles of writing. The students have achieved higher reading levels, and they are all working 100% to reach a 40 reading level. Various Science projects have kept the student very busy. The most exciting so far is when they built their flashlights.
Ongoing professional development or continued education you have been working on this year:
This is my third year teaching the Language! Program. I have attended the Balanced Literacy Center Workshop. Also, I have attended several technology workshops.

What made you decide to teach 4th grade?
I enjoy working with children. To reach a person and help them learn new things is not only a reward to me, I consider it a blessing. Teaching is my service call, I love it.

Daily Planner, Bi-weekly progress report, Monthy Reminder about upcoming events, and occasional phone calls
Special event(s) or day(s) your class participated in:
The day the children met their Pen Pal for the first time was wonderful. Weekly the children write back and forth to their Pen Pal. The children have really developed a friendship with their person since the first day of school. The actual meeting and gettting to talk with one another was so special. The children look very forward to writing each week, as well as their Pen Pal.
Other interesting facts or information to share:
I have two daughters, Cara a sophomore at Boston University, and Natalie, a second grader at UNA. I enjoy reading, cooking, and working in the yard. I am a member at UNA Church of Christ.
