Mrs. Allen & Mrs. Collins
 

 Exciting things that your class has done this year or things that you plan to do before the end of the year.
Mrs. Allen’s class-First graders are in store for an adventurous year.

 Mrs. Collins - We planted seeds and watched them grow. We also learned to write stories and then shared them with our class.

Ongoing professional development or continued education you have been working on this year.
Mrs. Allen - Over the summer, I attended the Reading and Writing workshop. I have been trained on the solids and liquids science kit and the weather kit.I  attended the Learn Not to Burn workshop. I also received a certificate for attending a seminar on dealing with the difficult student..
Mrs. Collins -I attended a wring workshop where I help grade the writing tests. I also just recently attended several Reading First workshops where we studied the essential parts of reading.

Where did you attend college, what was you major?
Mrs. Allen - Middle Tennessee State University, majored in Early Childhood Education.
Mrs. Collins - Trevecca Nazarene University.

Do you have a higher degree? How many years do you have? ( Masters, +30 Dr. Degree)
Mrs. Allen - Not at this time.
Mrs. Collins - Not at this time.

What made you decide to teach the First Grade?
Mrs. Allen -First graders learn all the important tools necessary to succeed in the grades ahead. It is exciting and regarding to see that take place!
Mrs. Collins - First grade is a very important academic year. I love to see where each student comes in and how much they grow while they are here.

What is your favorite color?
Mrs. Allen - My favorite color is green.
Mrs. Collins - My favorite color is blue.

What is you favorite children’s book?
Mrs. Allen - I enjoy reading a variety of books to my 2 year old son.  His favorite is Raindrop Plop!.
Mrs. Collins - Good Night Moon because I read it to my son every night before he goes to bed.

How do you prefer to communicate with your parents?
Mrs. Allen - My main source of communication to my parents is through newsletters and weekly graded papers.
Mrs. Collins -Daily folders, weekly newletters and phone calls if necessary.

Tell a special events in you classroom.
Mrs. Allen - The students will enjoy several field trips this year such as Traveller's Rest..
Mrs. Collins - Every student who reaches the First grade AR goal gets to go to Chuck E. Cheese!

Any other interesting facts or information you would like to share.
Mrs. Allen -My husband and i enjoy taking our 2 year old son Avery to the beach.
Mrs. Collins - I have been married for 4 years and we have a 15 month old son. I enjoy spending time with my family.
