Mrs. Bilbrey’s Bio
Tell about some exciting things that your class has done this year, or things that you plan to do before the end of the year.
We have learned to add and subtract tell time, and count money. We will learn about weather and solids and liquids. We planted seeds and watched our plants grow. We have learned about compound works, synonyms and much more. We have enjoyed writing stories to share with others in our classroom. We have also learned how to be a leaning community.
Tell about any ongoing professional development or continued education you have been working on this year. (Graduate work, Covey, new certification, etc….)
I have attended Balanced Literacy and the training for the newly adoped Reading series. I have also attended science workshops..
Where did you attend school, what was your major?
I attended Trevecca Nazarene University for both my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and my Master's degree in Reading.
Do you have a higher degree? How many years do you have? ( Masters, +30, Dr…)
I taught Kindergarten for 3 years and this will be my second year teaching First grade.
What made you decide to teach First Grade?
I love seeing first graders learn. first grade is such an important year where the students are developing so much. I enjoy watching them get excited when they have figured out something new. They can take in so much new information and that is neat to watch.
What is you favorite color?
My favorite color is green.
What is your favorite children’s book?
I enjoy reading all types of books but my favorite chilren's author is Kevin Henkes.
How do you prefer to communicate with you parents?
In person, on the telephone, by notes, and the daily calendar.
Tell about a special event or day your class participated in. You may want to include some student comments about the day or event.
The students enjhoyed celebrating the 100th day of school We have many activities in the classroom that day. It had been anticipated since the first day of school. The studetns enjoyed counting each. The students have also ehjoyed theird field trips, reading Junie B. Jones books and learning centers
