Ms. Gardner's Bio

Tell about some exciting things that your class has done this year, or things that you plan to do before the end of the year.

I have been implementing a new program called PALS in my classroom. I used it last year and it was a big success. My children are reading and sounding out words like never before.

Tell about any ongoing professional development or continued education you have been working on this year. (Graduate work, Covey, new certification, etc….)

I finished up my ELL course work and passed the ELL Praxis, so I am ELL Certified. I also earned and received my Tenure last year. I am now a “highly qualified” teacher.

Where did you attend school, what was your major?

I attended Harding University in Arkansas. I majored in Early Childhood Education

Do you have a higher degree? How many years do you have? ( Masters, +30, Dr…)

I have a BA, plus my ELL Certification.

What made you decide to teach Kindergarten?

I love children. If I could save all of the children who need help I would, but I can’t. Instead, I teach and do the best I can to be a positive role model for small children.

What is you favorite color?

Red.

What is your favorite children’s book?

The Giving Tree and Where the Wild Things Are

How do you prefer to communicate with you parents?

I teach ELL, so a personal conference with a translator is always best.

Tell about a special event or day your class participated in. You may want to include some student comments about the day or event.

My children and I recently celebrated the birthday of a classmate. His mother and father came to lunch early and set the table with plates and homemade spaghetti and cake. The invitations were so cute. On the cover was the child’s head on the body of a superhero. The whole cafeteria sang "Happy Birthday" and we ate and ate. It was so sweet!!

Any other interesting facts or information you would like to share.

Well, I guess it is not new news anymore, but I am an aunt. My precious nephew will be two years old in April. He keeps getting bigger and bigger. I am from Arkansas, so I am a huge Hogs fan. I am very independent and do a lot of things on my own. I love Una and I love my class!

Thank you,

Ms. Gardner
