Tell about some exciting things that your class has done this year, or things that you plan to do before the end of the year.
We have gone on some very fun and educational field trips this year. We have visited the Children’s Theater, the Purity Dairy Ice-cream plant, and Gentry’s Pumpkin Patch. We are planning trips to the Nashville Zoo and Warner Parks by the end of the school year.
Tell about any ongoing professional development or continued education you have been working on this year. (Graduate work, Covey, new certification, etc….)
I am working on my English as a Second Language Endorsement online at UTC and should be finished by December 2007.
Where did you attend school, what was your major?
I attended Marymount Manhattan College in 1997-1999 and Belmont University in 1999-2001. I graduated with a B.S. in Liberal Studies in December 2001.
Do you have a higher degree? How many years do you have? ( Masters, +30, Dr…)
Yes! I hold a Masters Degree in Elementary Education K-6 from Trevecca University.
What made you decide to teach Kindergarten?
I really like the students at this age and am fascinated by early childhood development. Kindergarten just seemed like a great match!
What is you favorite color?
Purple of course!
What is your favorite children’s book?
The Butter Battle Book by Dr. Seuss, because it teaches us the importance of getting along with one another.
How do you prefer to communicate with you parents?
I prefer to communicate with my parents in person, over the phone, or via email.
Tell about a special event or day your class participated in. You may want to include some student comments about the day or event.
We made a piñata this year when we read the story Fiesta!. It took a couple of weeks to complete the project and we filled the piñata with many good treats. It took all of the students hitting the piñata to make it break! We all enjoyed this experience.
