MNPS Teachers of the Year & Principals of the Year Announced
Three Metropolitan Nashville Public School teachers have been named Teacher of the Year in the annual Teacher of the Year awards program, which seeks to recognize teachers from each school who have been selected by their peers as among the best. The winners are:
Melissa Brock, Elementary School Teacher of the Year
Literacy Leader at Kirkpatrick Elementary.
Amy K. Cate, Middle School Teacher of the Year
Spanish/IB Coordinator at J.T. Moore MIddle.
Wanda Anglin, High School Teacher of the Year
Government, U.S. History, Psychology and A.American Studies teacher at Nashville School of the Arts.

The three MNPS teachers selected as Teacher of the Year were awarded $200 and will advance to statewide competition, and the winners at the state level will advance to the national competition. Because of the length of time from the start of the competition to the announcement of the national Teacher of the Year, the April 14 event celebrates the Teacher of the Year for 2009.
MNPS also recognized three Principals of the Year, one from elementary, one from middle, and one from the high school level. The winnders for 2009 are:
Sandra Moorman, Elementary Principal of the Year, Fall-Hamilton Elementary
Amy Downey, Middle School Principal of the Year, DuPont-Hadley
Clay Myers, High School Principal of the Year, Hunters Lane

In addition to these outstanding educators, several other MNPS teachers deserve recognition for their dedication to the school and students. First, the finalists for Teacher of the Year in Metro Schools for 2009 were:
