SPECIALTY INSTRUCTOR
SUMMARY:
Under supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator and Activities Manager, teach private, semi-private, and/or group classes following current certification guidelines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Teach specified class as needed by the aquatics department
2.Maintain safety for all participants at all times
3.Maintain proper paperwork for all students
4.Maintain certifications and all trainings necessary to teach current course
5.Teach course according to Certification Guidelines
6.Complete necessary participant checklist log for each student
7.Able to design effective lesson plans and goals for each class
8.Participates in monthly in-services
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
(As determined for specific specialty course hired to teach)
·Possess current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer
·Current ARC Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification
·Current ARC Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT) certification
·Current ARC Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
·Current ARC Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) certification
·Current ARC CPR for the Professional Rescuer Instructor (PRI) certification
·Current ARC Community CPR Instructor (CPRI) certification
·Current ARC Babysitter’s Training Instructor (BTI) certification
·Current ARC Bloodborne Pathogens Instructor (BBPI) certification
·Current ARC Small Craft Safety Instructor (SCSI) certification
·Current ARC Wilderness First Aid Instructor (WFAI) certification
·Current AEA Aquatic Fitness Certification
·Any current AEA Specialty Certification
·Current USWFA Aquatic Fitness Personal Trainer
·Current USWFA Water Fitness Instructor (basic & advanced)
·Any current USWFA Specialty Certification
(OR EQUAVILANT)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1.Must be able to work year-round – days, nights, and/or weekends
2.Must have thorough understanding of aquatics programs, lifeguard responsibilities, and current practices of pool hygiene/sanitation
3.Must have the ability to work cooperatively with people of all ages in an enthusiastic manner
4.A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience preferred
