Attached is our Summary of Security Initiatives for the 2006-2007 school year. Highlights of the report include the following:

  • Additional and new types of school searches
  • Additional cameras installed
  • Nearing completion of the installation of the remote/release phone system in all schools
  • Sixty-three SROs for Middle and High Schools, one Lieutenant, and six Sergeants provided by Metropolitan Police Department
  • Continuation of presentations to schools, faculties, PTA
  • s/PTOs, students and community groups on safety issues including discipline, gangs, and attendance
  • Daytime security investigators spot patrol the school district
  • Patrol of various bus stops after school
  • Increased number of campus supervisors
  • Organized TMAC (Teens Making a Change) – more than 30 members representing all zoned high schools
  • Olewus Bullying Program in some schools
