Parent Involvement Policy

Una Elementary School
Parent Involvement Policy
2007-2008

This Parent Involvement Policy is an outline of the services and opportunities for parents and staff to help our students become more successful at school and home. Our students need all of us working together to ensure that they are successful at school.  This policy was developed jointly with our parents.

  • Each year that we are a Title I school, an annual meeting will be held during the first six-weeks of school to help parents understand the school-wide project as outlined by No Child Left Behind (NCLB), the Parent-Teacher-Student Compact, and the Parent Involvement Policy.

  • Parents are encouraged to volunteer before, during, and after school. Please check with your child’s teacher to ensure that your services will be effectively utilized during your visit.

  • Parents have the right to visit classrooms at anytime for observation, however, if a parent would like a conference with the teacher, appropriate prior teacher notice is requested.

  • Parents will be included in workshops to assist in instructional efforts. We will offer a flexible number of meeting times, such as in the morning or evening.

  • We will have a designated area for parents to check out videos, literature, booklets, and information that address family, student, and/or parent issues.

Continuous communication will be provided to families by means of:

  • Newsletters
  • Conferences
  • Student Agendas
  • Mid term progress reports
  • Report cards
  • School website
