Course Description
This course is for students wishing to continue in-depth study of piano, which will include repertory, sight-reading and improvisation. There will be a continued use of the electronic piano lab. Students should have a piano available for home practice.

o Chord roots
o Complete major scales
o Solo literature
o Small ensemble
o Natural and Harmonic Minor Scales
o A simple variation to a familiar song
o A melodic pattern over a I, IV, V7 chord progression
o A simple melody based on a major scale
o A question and answer phrase
o Triads and inversions
o New Scales and Triads
o Scales using fingering methods
o Rhythm, Melody and Harmony in a selected piano recording
o Music recording of a variety of musical styles and genres
o Performance of self and others
o Live or recorded piano performance
o Aesthetic qualities of a given piano work
- Understanding relationships between music and other disciplines
o Basic elements common in the arts
o Characteristics of art forms within a particular historical period or style
- Understanding Music in relation to history and culture
o The genre or style of various keyboard compositions
o Leading composers and performers who have influenced the evolution of keyboard playing
