Spanish II
Recommended Prerequisites: Spanish I
Grades Offered: 7-12
Credit: ½ to 1
State Code: 3022
MNPS Course Code: FLA1280
Course Description
This course expands and strengthens the students’ control of the language. It builds on the foundation developed in Spanish I. During this course students develop their mastery of the language and are able to express themselves using more complex grammar and vocabulary. The course is based on the National Foreign Language Standards. The adopted text and supplementary materials present skills and provide developmental practice. In order for students to continue studying Spanish, it is imperative to finish at least four units in the text. At the time of the End of Course testing, teachers must have completed Unidad 4, Etapa 1 leaving the rest of Unidad 4 to cover after the End of Course test. At times, grammar concepts are listed as review in the Spanish II textbook, but are not covered in the required 4 Units. Please refer to the Articulation and Scope and Sequence charts located in the front of each teacher’s edition to identify these items. Hint: This also identifies a rich source for teaching materials (Units 5 and 6 of the Spanish I text).
