Course Description:
Spanish I is the introductory course. Students enrolled in this course have basically no proficiency in the language. During this course students develop the basis on which to build proficiency through the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The course is based on the National Foreign Language Standards. The adopted text and supplementary materials present skills and provide developmental practice. In order for students to be prepared for the proficiency test at the end of the year, teachers must complete through Unidad 4, Etapa 3 and add 1st conjugation regular preterite verbs. At the time of the End of Course testing, teachers must have completed Unidad 4, Etapa 1 leaving the rest of Unidad 4 and preterit tense of 1st conjugation regular verbs to cover after the End of Course test. Also, the items noted may be specific answers on the test; however, other forms may be included in the text although they do not appear as the answer to a specific question.
