Teaching & Learning

Teaching and learning are central to everything we do at Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.  We search for and employ the best trained and most talented teachers, then provide them with the tools and materials needed to help all students learn and achieve.

welcome

Within our 136 schools, you’ll find a variety of subject areas and courses to challenge students. Our teachers balance homework assignments so there is an appropriate blend of learning and time to be with family.

Since no two students are identical, neither are any of our schools. You’ll find Magnet and Optional schools, Gifted and Talented programs, assistance for Home School and help for those who are homeless.  Our special education programs provide a range of services for students with unique learning needs, while our English Language Learning program helps students move forward.  We offer summer school courses and provide adult/community education, two important programs that help many advance toward individual goals.

There are numerous benchmarks of achievement for all schools, and we know parents take much interest in our district’s test results.  The measurements are important; so is talking with other parents who are currently involved with our schools.

Thank you for looking at what we do. We appreciate your interest and want you to know that our mission is to do whatever it takes for all students to acquire the knowledge and skills to become productive, responsible citizens.
